Oktoberfest on the Sound with the Madison Lions Club
While the origin of the real Oktoberfest dates back to early 19th century Bavaria, in honor of the marriage of Prince Ludwig and Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen, the Madison-CT Lions Club held their own version this year on Saturday, September 27th to raise money for those in need. And to enjoy some dunkles and Oktoberfest beer, brats and knockwurst, dachshund races, music, dancing, and just a good olde time.
And I had the privilege of being able to help them out.
The Madison Lions Club conducts a number of area fundraising activities throughout the year to support: Daniel Hand High School, the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation, Lions Low Vision Centers, the FIDELCO Guide Dog Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, local libraries, and a program that provides food baskets for needy Connecticut residents during the holidays.
Attendance at the event was better than anticipated, and I’m looking forward to next year’s event already!
